My baby for a couple years was a little house up on a hill in Los Gatos, California. The house is by no coincidence on Overlook Road: every room and deck has a view of Silicon Valley from South San Jose all the way up to Oakland on a clear day.
She sits on just under an acre of hillside and offered just enough un-shaded land for a small Cabernet vineyard. Much of my time for a few years was spent working on either the house or vineyard. It was a real tough decision to part with the property when I left for an open ended round-the-world trip in 2006.

The
Neighbors Living on the edge of wilderness has some advantages. Deer, possum, skunk and raccoon all spent some time in the yard. Even found a rattlesnake skin in the driveway once.
