Yes, it took a long time, but it finally came together.

Rebuild Patio - September 2004
The outer corner of the balcony flooring had rotted through, so I replaced the floor boards up to the middle post. The job was quite a bit easier with the railing down and once I saw the view without the railing, it couldn't go back up.

We ran the cable through eye bolts that are
mounted in a 1" bore on the right post. The tension can be adjusted
by tightening drawing the eyebolt in with the mounting nut. The left side
of the cable is looped through steel rod that is driving into the post.
