2005 San Jose Grand Prix

This being the inaugural run of the SJGP, you might expect a few challenges with the track.

The course layout and light rail tracks proved to be more than most could handle.

18 cars started the race.

9 finished under their own power.

DOH!

Bad day for racers..

Good day for tow trucks.

Not sure insurance is going to like this.

Smoke is bad,  right?

This is what jumping light rail tracks does to your suspension.

That bent piece of solid steel is a lot more substantial than it appears in the picture. It's amazing the forces that these cars see on the track.

The track was actually a major problem for all teams and there was quite a bit of talk afterwards about how bad the course was setup. Hopefully they'll come back next year....

...because we like a good train wreck.
